A Legacy of Surveying Innovation

Nathan Weber, PLS, the President of Diamond Land Surveying, possesses an innate ability to identify technologies that elevate surveying to new heights of accuracy and efficiency, opening up fresh possibilities for everyday applications.

The journey began in the picturesque town of Vernal, Idaho, where, as a high school student, Nathan worked as a crew hand during summers and honed his skills as a draftsman during the winters. His remarkable aptitude propelled him to lead a survey crew at the tender age of 17. In the ensuing years, he continued to evolve as a surveyor and draftsman. His quest for growth led him to the Wasatch Front, offering more expansive surveying prospects. Nathan’s early career was marked by significant roadway projects, including the reconstruction of I-15 and substantial alterations to I-80 and SR201. His exceptional abilities didn’t go unnoticed, and at the age of 21, he assumed the role of survey auditor for the entire I-15 reconstruction project, overseeing 13 full-time survey crews.

Following stints at larger local engineering firms, Nathan Weber embraced his entrepreneurial spirit and joined Diamond Design and Land Surveying in 2000, a smaller Idaho-based firm. This eventually culminated in his acquisition of the company, which was later rebranded as Diamond Land Surveying. The firm’s initial focus centered on pioneering 3D laser scanning applications in surveying. Diamond emerged as one of the early adopters of laser scanning technology in surveying in the western United States, rapidly establishing itself as the go-to expert in Idaho. Since then, Diamond has maintained its leadership position by innovating and diversifying its applications in 3D laser scanning.

However, 3D laser scanning is just one chapter in our story of innovation. We’ve consistently pushed the boundaries in all traditional aspects of surveying, a fact highlighted in the Civil + Structural Engineer digest of 2009, which featured Diamond’s pioneering work in crane monitoring at Chevron’s Salt Lake City refinery.

The story doesn’t end there. Diamond Land Surveying has earned recognition as a trailblazing surveying firm in Idaho. While anyone can claim such accolades on a website, our client roster serves as tangible proof. We continue to expand our list of loyal, repeat clients, which includes some of Idaho’s largest landowners, top contractors, and esteemed professional firms. Our unwavering commitment remains steadfast—to become the definitive surveying and laser scanning partner in the state of Idaho and its surrounding regions.
